A young man’s obsession for a woman in a painting turns his world upside down forcing him to choose between fantasy, reality obsession and love.
New to the U.S., Drew McCullough is a lonely young Irishman who sells carpet for a living. One night on a quiet street in front of an art gallery, he is mesmerized by the image of a beautiful, exotic young woman in a painting. As he stares, transfixed, she suddenly steps out of the painting and into his arms. For an instant, they are locked in a passionate, soul-churning kiss and then she’s gone.
Shaken and intoxicated by the moment, Drew’s whole world is turned upside down. Is this the woman of his dreams? Or has he just lost his mind? He’s going to find out, no matter what the cost. And it costs him dearly.
Driven by his obsession to find her, he drains his finances to buy the painting, he loses his job and then he meets Lacy, a down to earth waitress with the heart of an artist -- a woman waiting to be inspired.
What is beauty? Where does it come from? What is love? Is it real - or are all the things that inspire our passions just illusions? Fantasy or reality, obsession or love – are they really just different sides of the same coin?
Throughout his journey, Drew is mentored by an eccentric art collector, a poetic old drunk, and finally the wise old artist himself, all of whom help Drew realize that beauty’s truest essence resides in the ordinary and that all we really need is already available to us.
